Ghana Ali Raza needs no introduction. She made headlines with her life choices. Be it embracing motherhood or being with someone worthy of second chance.

But there is more to her than meets the eyes. She is known for her work in Pakistani dramas. Ghana Ali earned commercial success with a lead role in the Geo TV drama serial Sangdil. She made her film debut with the musical-drama Rangreza, which was released in 2017.
Social Diary got to have an unplugged conversation with her about her work and career choices. Here is what she has to say.
What prompted you to pursue acting as a career?
I was always an actor as per my family 😜
What was your first acting experience?
I played a very small supporting role!  Literally started from scratch
How do you get into character?
So in my life I listen to people analyze every sort of personality it’s like I am mostly learning everyday. That’s how I just pick that person up in my brain and start playing her.
What’s your favorite part about shooting?
Acting in front of camera is my only favorite part of sets
What was the most challenging role you’ve ever played?
When I was shooting for sayaa it was a horror drama serial. Which I couldn’t really get along with, That was very difficult
What’s been your favorite role to play thus far and why?
Saba in besharam then again because it was a bit different that’s why
Do you have any funny or interesting stories from auditions?
No unfortunately no
Do you think cinema/television portrays reality accurately these days or does it have a negative influence? In what way?
We have masses too and the things we see does happen in masses that’s why ppl sometimes can relate to things which we find awkward but only few percent is elite class or have certain awareness towards things masses almost is still the same so yea and no is my answer
Do you think an artist has a responsibility to convey a positive message through their work and why or why not?
Yea they do , but we are here to play I think more thn actors it’s writers and producers responsibility but of course  we play a part in it too so yea!
Have you ever said “no” to a project because the content or message wasn’t right? If so, can you tell me about that experience and how you made your decision?
Not yet so far I haven’t been approached for anything indecent.
Who are your favorite actors and actresses and why do they inspire you?
Voila davis (love her craft)
The way she doesn’t much care about being dolled up most of the times playing characters which inspires and do it so beautifully it’s just amazing
What are some things that people might be surprised to learn about acting/the industry that they don’t see on screen?
The shoot in garmi is just like kisaan working in field
How do you handle personal criticism about your work?
Oh I take them positively they help me grow
Do you have any dream roles you would love to play?
I would love to play a role of anything which is not same saas bahu something different which challenges my inner artist
How does motherhood changed you? Are you on a break?
Not anymore!!  already started working again
But yes this time it’s a different experience with kids being around it’s just it’s just sometimes I even miss them on sets 🤓
How do you deal with online trolling and negativity? Does it impact you on a personal level?
It does but I am fortunate to have an amazing partner who keeps reminding me to ignore
