Our plants are our children, and we honestly can’t cope when we lose one to overwatering, underwatering, too little sunlight, too much sunlight — you get the picture. There are a lot of ways to kill a plant. Thankfully, we have five helpful and trending tips from Pinterest to keep your plants alive. Keeping plants alive isn’t as hard as you think it is. Here are a few tips on how to care for your indoor plants…

Packaging Peanuts

Your soil needs proper drainage in order not to drown or rot the plant’s roots. Plus, you need to be able to pick up the planter without throwing out your back.

The solution: fill the bottom half of your planter with packing peanuts. It will cut the weight in half while creating better drainage.

Eggshell water

No need to lug home a heavy bag of plant fertilizer. Boost your plants’ calcium and potassium levels with this homemade fertilizer made by combining eggshells and water in an empty container.

Pruning

Just like you, plants need haircuts to stay healthy and look like their best! This guide teaches you the correct way to prune plants.

Water and Light in Right Amount

You could water your plant every day and think you are being a great plant parent … then be totally confused when its leaves are brown and curling two weeks later.

Every type of plant needs a certain amount of water and sunlight, and this helpful guide breaks down the needs of common house plants.

Coffee Filters

Coffee filters are an indoor garden game changer. They keep the soil in place but let water drain through, so you have no messes, just healthy plants.
