With the onset of a pandemic, remaining fit is becoming a tad harder than usual. Here’s to getting inspiration from your favorite stars on how to keep the rhythm going and maintaining a whole some lifestyle.
What is your philosophy on health and fitness?
Mind and body are extremely important and they are interlinked. Which means we need to keep both in optimal state for overall fitness. We have just one life; we need to realize how we have to be mentally and physically ingrained to attaining wholesome living. Also, I wanted to point out how being healthy and fit keeps us in a peaceful frame of mind, thus a good ambience around will be guaranteed. If we are not healthy and fit, we will be disoriented. And this will also have a negative impact on those around us.
Would you call yourself a health freak-elaborate?
I guess so. Although I don’t emphasize on dieting and indulge in good food, I do however make sure to burn it out somehow. I try to always keep my body in shape as well as my mental health in check. Overtime I have set some ground rules for myself- my dos and don’ts which I adhere to, so to ensure my health is always in check.
Any fad diets that worked for you?
Well, I have tried quite a few things like keto, vegan etc. However according to me, what works best is having a balanced diet. There is no replacement for the amazing long-term benefits this will bring you as compared to short-lived results from fad diets which also have some drastic effects on your health.
Eating Healthy or Working Out? What works better for you?
I am sort of laid back when it comes to healthy eating but I do focus on working out religiously. I burn those extra calories I took on . Ideally both go hand in hand but I’m aiming to get some more of healthy eating in focus too.
A fitness guru you idolize?
There are so many. I look at Dwayne Johnson who works out aggressively. Then when I look at the healthy eating pattern of Bryan Adams who is a vegan and inspires me.
Your favorite smoothie/healthy beverage recipe
I would go for a blend of carrots, strawberries and bananas. I also go for lots of fruits and greens.
From where does your inspiration to living fit comes from?
It comes from life itself. Allah has given us so much to explore. We have places to visit, people to meet and so much of potential to discover and unravel. However, all of that can only be possible when we are physically and mentally fit. That is what keeps me going- you can only cherish so much when you have a sound body and mind.
What remains your favorite healthy food/recipe
The ultimate healthy food is banana for me; definitely for my sugar cravings. Even nuts. Both go hand in hand as my favorite snack on the go.
The first thing you aim to do right after waking up?
To kickstart the day and my body by taking warm water and vitamin C. I also have been taking Adrak Kehwa regularly since the pandemic hit and it helps me plenty. I think I am protected from covid by regularly taking this kehwa.
How do you keep your workout interesting at home during pandemic?
Working out at home can be done through looking at the energetic programmes and fitness videos of health gurus on the net. Your workout becomes fun, when you follow these exciting routines; they keep working out at home interesting and not dull.
Your wellness routine before going to bed?
I try to eat my dinner by 7pm so that the stomach is light before hitting the bed. Also, I aim to conclude the day with a relaxed state of mind. I spend time with my family and kids, forgetting the tiredness of the day to end it with a very family-oriented, relaxed mindset. Timely and proper sleep is extremely important for our health.
What are your picks for
the following perfect meals?
• Breakfast: Bananas/nuts/apple and peanut butter
• Pre-workout: Bananas and sometimes black coffee
• Post-workout: Purely protein- white eggs
•Lunch: Roti with any sabzi/curry
• Dinner: Ghee roti and regular home-cooked food
• Snacks: Almonds/walnuts
• Guilty pleasures: Countless. Depends on the mood
Do you follow and adapt meditation tactics in your daily routine
While I do go for yoga for some breathing and flexibility regime. However, I don’t adapt extremely deep meditation tactics. Generally, I do practice movements and health tactics which give you a positive frame of mind and shields you from adapting negative thoughts and perceptions.
Do you believe in cheat days? If so, what’s the main item on the menu?
I do believe in cheat days. You do need a heavy dose of carbohydrates sometimes. Menu can have anything. I don’t have any limitations. Whatever my body needs, I listen to that craving. Sometimes its burgers, and other days it is ‘paye’, parathas, naan and kebabs.
When out with friends, where do you often like to dine?
There isn’t just one place. It depends on the mood. With my friends, we head out for some fried fish sometimes. Other days we also indulge in fine dining. Then there are days when we crave for some breakfast goodness and go for ‘halwa puri’. It depends on the mood and the people I am hanging out with.
