In a high-profile domestic violence case, a sessions court in Lahore on Saturday extended the interim bail of Majid Bashir, the husband of renowned stage actress Nargis.
The accused appeared before the Duty Additional Sessions Judge to address his interim bail petition. However, the police failed to present a complete investigation report, citing the need for more time to conclude their inquiries into the allegations of domestic violence.
“We request the court to grant us additional time to finalize the investigation,” stated a police official during the proceedings.
The court granted the request and extended Majid Bashir’s interim bail until January 2, 2024, to allow the police to complete their investigation.
The case, registered at the Defence-C Police Station, alleges domestic violence perpetrated by Bashir against his wife, Nargis. The complaint has drawn widespread public attention, highlighting the ongoing issue of violence against women in domestic settings.
This case of alleged domestic violence underscores the urgent need for robust legal action and comprehensive investigation to ensure justice. The next hearing will focus on the findings of the police report and determine the course of legal action.
Public outcry continues to grow, with advocates calling for swift and transparent proceedings in this critical domestic violence case.
