Where Eid-ul-Fitar is all about Eidi, vermicelli, hot & spicy channa chaat, fruit trifal and sweet delights, Eid ul Adha (Eid ul Azha) is about Mutton roast, Kababs, Biryani and fun-filled family BBQ night. But off course choriya, mehendi and mesmerizing Eid dresses are always a part of every festival, after all girls are all about ‘Sajna Sawarna’.

The central attraction of Eid-ul-Azha is the ble-e-e-e-e-ting of goats and cows everywhere, which brings about an enchantingly rustic effect in the city ambiance. A day before, where girls are busy applying henna and facial cleansers, boys and kids take their bakras to ‘Fancy Bakra Walk’ where Bakras are all dolled up in beautiful costumes, balloons, ribbons and sparkling glitters. It is rather nostalgic; it comes bringing thousands of childhood memories with it, the family moments of cold and foggy BBQ nights, the charm of childhood bakra wrestling and fire crackers. But the worst thing about it is the smell of raw meat especially if you are a vegetarian, that day might become the most yawky, smelly day for you. But whatever it is, it is an essential part of Muslim religion, a day when Muslims all over the world test their love for God, the creator of all.

This time, Social Diary took special reviews of such talented fashion designers Wardha Saleem &Erum Khan to know how they celebrates Eid-ul-Azha with their family…Also they shared one of the best dishes which is cooked at their home to utilize the meat in a scrumptious way.

trendalert_1“I celebrate Eid with my family. I don’t cook anything but the most special part about this festival is that my mother cooks. This is the only time in the year when she cooks that too the most delicious chops and mutton leg smile emoticon.”

Almost whole day is spending in kitchen to prepare for qurbani gosht. And then preparing for BBQ which is a must at or place. By evening, family & friends start to come and we all gather in our backyard and start the BBQ. Even I don’t cook on Eid days .I just use to sleep whole day, to be honest.”

Recipe of the Festival!
Spicy Mutton Chops

Ingredients:
• 1⁄2 kg mutton chops, washed and cleaned (10-12 pcs.).
• 1 cup beaten plain low-fat yogurt.
• 4 green chilies, washed, ends trimmed and finely chopped.
• 2 teaspoons coriander powder.
• 1⁄2 teaspoon turmeric powder.
• 1⁄2 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste.
• 1 teaspoon red chili powder.
• 1 teaspoon garam masala powder.
• 1 egg.
• Salt.
• Oil, for shallow frying.
• 2 sliced onions, for garnish.
• 1 sliced lime, for garnish.

Directions:

In a bowl, mix together the beaten yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, coriander, red chili, turmeric and garam masala powders, green chilies and salt to taste. Add the mutton chop pcs. Mix well so that the chops are coated well with the marinade. Marinate for 3 hours. Put the mutton chops {no water required} in a pressure cooker and pressure cook till done. Dry the gravy in the mutton chops on clean kitchen paper towels. Remove each piece and keep aside. Beat an egg in a bowl using an electric beater until light and fluffy. Just before serving, dip each mutton chop piece in the beaten egg. Heat oil in a wok. Shallow fry the mutton chops that have been dipped in the beaten egg now in the oil until browned on either side. Drain on clean paper towels to remove excess oil. Transfer the drained mutton chops in a serving platter. Garnish with onion slices and sliced lemon pcs. Serve immediately with green chutney of your choice.

Have a blast this Eid with your friends and family plus don’t get yourself hurt by Bakra’s Seeng! Stay blessed and stay safe.
