Would you call yourself a health freak?
No, not at all. I would call myself health ‘wiser’.
What is your philosophy on health and fitness?
For me, health isn’t just about losing weight. It’s about gaining your life from losing weight to earning moments of fulfillment and self-assurance. Feel good and live well.
How do you keep your workout interesting at home?
Whether it’s at home or at the gym, you have to aim to make your workout interesting. There are a lot of tools, gears, and tips you need to make use of. I try to find activities that don’t look like exercising. And look for the right workout clothes which are also comfortable. What people don’t get is the workout gear needs to be on point. Obviously, you have to find a place in your home where you can readily focus.
Eating Healthy or Working Out? What works better for you?
It’s a combination of both. You need to watch what you’re eating. And that goes with adopting a healthy lifestyle. You need to work out your own perfect balance.
Your wellness routine before going to bed?
I try to manage to go to bed early. There is scientific evidence on how this will give your health a major boost! I also keep myself hydrated. And one hour before going to bed, make sure you turn off the screens.
The first thing you aim to do right after waking up?
I make sure to keep water by my side. I have a lot of water in the morning.
Any fad diets that worked for you?
When I started off, I tried various diets, including starving myself. But soon enough I got my health awareness and realized food is science. You need to create the right kind of food balance. I don’t recommend diets to others either. I mean the word diet has the word ‘die’ in it. Not what I am going to vouch for.
Do you believe in cheat days? If so, what’s the main item on the menu?
Whenever it comes to food, we do tend to cheat. I don’t follow a very strict diet. When I crave something, I set a specific day for it. I really do enjoy my food. People assume I lead a strict and boring lifestyle- that isn’t the case. I have a strong taste palate which I appreciate.
Where does your inspiration to live fit comes from?
I take my criticism seriously. And if I think it’s true, I acknowledge it and access it. When you have the strength to turn over the jealousy or criticism you face, turn it into your power. Lead it towards your positive growth.
When out with friends, where do you often like to dine?
I love trying new restaurants and indulging in junk food with friends. I often prefer Thai and Chinese. I also enjoy Pakistani and desi food like karahi which is also a healthy option. Spices like ginger and garlic are beneficial to your body.
Do you follow and adapt meditation tactics in your daily routine?
Yes, I do. I have my meditation at night before sleeping. I like to stand under the open sky and feel gratitude as I take in deep breaths. Your body responds better when you connect with nature.
Your views on adapting superficial standards of beauty? How can these be rectified?
Unfortunately, we are facing them despite talking against them. What we need to learn is to ignore the same and listen to our inner voice which defines our excellence and beauty. Create a focus bubble that is indifferent to the views around you.
