What is your philosophy on health and fitness?
A healthy mind builds a healthy body. I believe it’s of utmost importance that you take care of yourself. It’s a rule I live by. My body does so much for me, so it’s my first priority to take care of it and keep it at its best, whether it’s endurance, strength, or mobility.
Would you call yourself a health freak-elaborate?
I try to eat as clean as possible and work out at least 4 times a week. It’s safe to call myself a health freak as I do kickboxing, aerial yoga and I swim to stay fit. I’m very competitive so that helps keep me motivated.
Any fad diets that worked for you?
I’ve tried almost every diet but it’s never a constant. The only thing that I find sustainable is low-carb. You need to listen to your body and give it what it needs by the end of the day.
Eating Healthy or Working Out? What works better for you?
Both are in equal parts. Bodies are made in the kitchen. No matter how hard you work out, if you’re not eating right, it won’t work so definitely eat healthily and work out whenever possible.
Your wellness routine before going to bed?
I do a skincare routine no matter how tired I am. A cup of green tea and some meditation before bed.
How do you keep your workout interesting at home?
I find it hard to work out at home because I get easily distracted. If I can’t get to the gym then I either walk or play with my dogs, that’s definitely a workout.
Do you believe in cheat days? If so, what’s the main item on the menu?
Cheat days are important because they keep you from binge eating. I load up on carbs on cheat days: pasta, rice, ramen, popcorn, and cake. Love cake.
From where does your inspiration to live fit comes?
I’ve always been active and I enjoy challenging myself to see how far I can push myself physically. The inspiration has always come from within myself. It’s important to take care of your body because it does so much for you.
What are your picks for
the following perfect meals?
Breakfast: eggs (boiled, scrambled, omelet)
Pre-workout: black coffee
Post-workout: protein of any kind
Lunch: grilled chicken and veggies
Dinner: seafood with a side of greens
Guilty pleasures: chocolate!
The first thing you aim to do right after waking up?
Drink some water and then coffee.
What remains your favorite healthy food/beverage recipe?
I absolutely love vegetables so some grilled meat and veggies are my go-to food. I normally love lemonade with some salt and no sugar.
When out with friends, where do you often like to dine?
Depends on what I am in the mood for. I usually find places that have a good healthy menu. These days I normally go to Evergreen.
Do you follow and adapt meditation tactics in your daily routine?
Yes. The kind of environmental stress we deal with on a daily basis, I try and practice meditation a few times a week, if not daily. Right before I go to bed.
Your views on adapting superficial standards of beauty? How can these be rectified?
I think the age of Instagram and filters has made people forget that it’s normal to have acne, pores, and textured skin. We need to normalize looking real. We need to start a serious conversation so that it can change the current mindset.
