You are what you eat! So, how particular are you when it comes to the food you’re consuming? With our fast-paced lives keeping track of your food intake that contain high immunity boosters has become difficult. More often, then not, we don’t pay attention to necessary food our body requires to build strong immunity. We skip meals, survive on junk because we’re too lazy to whip something up that’s healthy. And, now in the pressing times of COVID-19, it is of the utmost importance that we consume foods that boost up our immunity as a defense against this novel virus and otherwise too.

What Is Immunity?

Being immune to something means it does not affect you. Immunity is your body’s way to safeguard you from deadly infections and viruses, especially through preventing the development of a pathogenic microorganism.  Ignoring your health, especially now in such risky times, may not be the right thing to do. Developing a strong immunity is one of the best preventive and precautionary measures to take against the coronavirus until a vaccine has been procured.

Foods That Can Boost Your Immunity

Whipping up full-fledged recipes to help boost your immunity may not be everyone’s cup of tea, so here’s some basic, easy to stock up on foods, you can find at home that’ll help increase your immunity. Foods rich in supplements, especially Vitamin C, are always a good choice!

Broccoli

Although not a people’s fav, it is known to be a high source of Vitamin C and antioxidants. It contains Sulphur-rich compounds known to provide powerful health benefits.

Citrus Fruits

The most primary source for Vitamin C, they are known to be used for common cold reminds as Vitamin C helps in the production of white blood cells in your body that are incredibly crucial to ward off infections. They are also super easy to squeeze into your daily diet!

Blueberries

Blueberries are rich in antioxidant supplements like flavonoid. They help prevent and treat coughs and cold. Research shows that people who consume food rich in flavonoids are less likely to come down with symptoms for respiratory diseases than those who don’t.

Dark Chocolate

Having just a small piece of dark chocolate every day is known to improve your immunity. It contains an antioxidant called theobromine that helps suppress the symptoms of cold and cough. It’s a win-win, tbh!

Red Bell Peppers

Another, super-rich Vitamin C food that is exceptionally easy and delicious to incorporate in your day-to-day meals!

Eggs

Eggs are immensely rich in immunity-boosting essentials your body needs, especially the yolk. They contain high amounts of Vitamin D that regulate and strengthen your immunity. Studies show people consuming a daily dose of Vitamin D were less likely to catch respiratory tract infections. It’s an eggcellent choice!

Garlic

One of the most common cold-curing foods of all time, garlic is enriched with Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B6, and Vitamin C that are important to help boost your immunity against the common cold.

Nuts/ Dry fruits

Almonds, cashew nuts, walnuts among others are rich in Vitamin E, another supplement crucial to fight off sickness. They also make for a great midday snack.

  1. High stress level
  2. Excessive stomach problems
