When it comes to your health, there are so many choices for you to keep your health in check. Among them is drinking almond milk. It has been gaining popularity. But do you know why it is considered a really good health substitute? In this article, I am going to be sharing all that you need to know when it comes to how good almond milk is for you and why you should be adding it to your diet.
Almond milk is a vitamin-rich, lactose-free drink that is an excellent substitute for dairy milk. It is the most commonly used plant milk all over the world. Almond milk benefits are something that you must know in this era of a hectic life. A glass of almond milk can provide you with a lot of nutrients in one go. And there is a reason why parents consider adding it to their children’s diet too. It is rich in several healthful nutrients, but compared with whole almonds, it is watered down and missing most of the fiber. While almond milk is becoming more and more popular, it’s important to note that it doesn’t provide as much protein or calcium to be a complete substitute, so make sure you receive adequate amounts from other sources. One cup only has one gram of protein versus 8 grams in cow’s milk, and 2 milligrams of calcium versus 300 milligrams in cow’s milk.

HOW IT’S MADE:
Almond milk is made by blending almonds with water and then straining the mixture to remove the solids. You can also make it by adding water to almond butter. It has a pleasant, nutty flavor and a creamy texture similar to that of regular milk. For this reason, it is a popular choice for people following a vegan diet and those who are allergic or intolerant to dairy. You can find almond milk in most supermarkets, usually in the health food section. It is also very easy to make at home. Commercial almond milk comes in a variety of brands and flavors. For health reasons, it is best to choose almond milk that does not contain added sugar.
WHY IT’S GOOD FOR YOU:
Almond milk has no lactose (a type of sugar found naturally in dairy milk) since it’s not an animal product. As a result, it’s a good milk substitute for people with lactose intolerance. It is rich in magnesium which is important for muscle function, blood sugar control, blood pressure, and making bone, protein, and DNA. Almond milk is a good source of vitamin E, which is important for your immune system and blood vessels. Some studies have shown a link between high vitamin E intake and a lower risk of cognitive diseases like Alzheimer’s disease. It also contains bone-building calcium. Bone health is tied to calcium because the mineral makes up most hard structures in bones. Getting enough calcium keeps your bones strong and can help your body fight osteoporosis.
And almond can be low in calories and carbs. Compared to animal milk, unsweetened almond milk is low in sugars and carbohydrates. It has 50% to 80% fewer calories than dairy milk. It’s considered a low glycemic index food. This means it’s less likely to cause blood sugar spikes.
Just like regular milk, almond milk often contains added vitamin D. The amount of vitamin D varies between products. For example, 1 cup of almond milk may contain 2.62 micrograms, which is 13% of your DV. Almond milk is often enriched with vitamin D, and consuming it often may help prevent vitamin D deficiency.
