A brilliant and gifted actress, Yashma Gill has been treating viewers to her acting chops in mega drama serials. She has also been using her position to be more vocal about the rights of stray animals, speaking actively against the injustice.Social Diary sat down with her to know the rising star a little better. Here’s what she had to say:
What was your favourite pass time during the lockdown?
My favourite pastime during the lockdown was mostly taking care of animals.
When you are pissed off, how do you vent your anger?
I write really long messages to the person that has made me upset or angry.
Weirdest comment you have ever had?
Anyone questioning my Amaal, especially when they don’t even know me.
Who do you comfortably share your secrets with?
Without doubt, my sister. My younger sister.
The most precious relationship you have experienced during these tough times?
Definitely my parents, and the rest of my family. I understood their importance in my life
A past project you regret doing?
I don’t think I particularly regret doing anything – even if it doesn’t work out for better, I always walk away having learned a lot.
A talent you wish you had?
Playing an instrument.
One celebrity you would like to accompany you in a rocket?
Yumna Zaidi, for sure.
What is your fitness regimen like?
I exercise almost daily and I take care of my diet as well.
Three things on your bucket list for next year?
Going to Turkey, volunteering in animal shelters, and going camping with my friends.
Are you more of an introvert or an extrovert?
I’m a bit of both.
Have you ever been cheated on?
I think everyone will find people in their life who at some point in life will make them feel like they weren’t worth being trusted. What matters is how you deal with it and how you come out of it, stronger than ever. You should be the kind of person that learns from their mistakes and doesn’t run after revenge or adapt negative traits.
What attracts you in a person?
Modesty.
Who has been your pillar of strength?
My parents and my siblings.
What puts you off?
People who are self obsessed.
The hardest punishment ever received?
When I have to be away from my family, I’m not sure if that counts as a punishment.
If you get another chance to live your life, what will you do?
The question is, will I be in control? Will I even be in charge of my life? And hypothetically, I guess I would just refrain from making the mistakes I made before, and somehow try and save my dog.
One quality you would like to change in yourself?
Overthinking.
What 3 things would you carry with yourself always?
Lipbalm, my phone and my credit card.
What do you wish you had known sooner in life?
Probably the fact that you should continue doing what you love despite what anyone says. If it makes you happy, go for it.

What important lesson have you learned from your past?
That you should speak up and stand for what’s right.
What is your deepest fear?
Losing my parents.
If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be?
Madam Nur Jahan.
Do you prefer a love marriage, arranged marriage or being single?
I like being single for now.
Which celebrity would you want to work with?
There are so many. I’d love to have a chance to work with Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan – I have a long list!
What is your idea of a perfect holiday?
That’s simple, a beach and my girls.
