Meera Ansari

  1. What’s the first thing you do in the morning?

Wake my kids up for school, and then drink a glass of water.

  1. What is your usual workout routine like?

I was never a workout person since I was always naturally skinny but after kids I wanted to tone up and build strength.

So now I focus on a lot of core and leg workouts, and it’s taken me months of consistent exercise. Luckily, the results came out fast. It’s a combo of sit ups, crunches, leg raises, lunges and squats. I do it at least four days a week.

  1. What’s your typical breakfast?

Some days it’s oatmeal and milkshake, or omelette, and if I’m really feeling creative I make a delicious stir fry in butter, with boiled potatoes, spring onion, corn, chopped sausages and garlic. Gives me a good protein and carb fix and is very filling.

  1. What does “balance” mean to you?

Alone time to reflect, detox and recharge your mind and body.

  1. Do you use any type of herbs in your day to day routine?

Not really.

  1. Are you a walk or a workout person?

Work out at home while my kids run around person. Lol

  1. Do you follow any diet plan?

I’ve never followed a diet plan to lose weight.. but I believe in a low sugar and caffeine free life.. I love food and eat anything I feel like, but since my second baby (I was diagnosed borderline diabetic) I keep an eye on my sugar intake, which also includes white rice, potatoes and pasta.. a lot of these foods are consumed in our body as sugar so I’ve recently been more mindful of my portions. Thankfully my regular exercise and low sugar intake keep things under control.. I do enjoy desserts occasionally and make sure I burn off excess sugar in my system with a good cardio workout after. Also no fizzy drinks!

  1. What’s the first thing you do in the morning?

I grab a black coffee and head straight to the gym for my workout.

  1. What is your usual workout routine like?

I do a lot of cardio and strength training for an hour at the gym and swim for about 30 to 45 minutes, 3 times a week. Other than that, I take dance classes so that’s a bonus if I binge over the weekend.

  1. What’s your typical breakfast?

My go-to breakfast is coffee and eggs. Sometimes I have an omelet and toast but normally its boiled egg whites. I find it more satiating. If I’m short of time then just coffee works.

  1. What does “balance” mean to you?

To me, it means working hard and playing hard. I work out a lot so I can eat whatever I want within reason as I have a tendency to put on weight fast. I don’t deprive myself of food. Instead, I workout to make room for it.

  1. Do you use any type of herbs in your day to day routine?

Not really. I like mint in my green tea and some cinnamon sprinkled on my coffee but that’s as far as I go.

  1. Are you a walk or a workout person?

Workout person for sure. I do walk whenever possible, take my dog for a walk and stuff but I need a gym definitely.

  1. Do you follow any particular diet plan?

I eat clean. I don’t follow any diet but mainly focus on balancing my meals. Protein is a must so a lot of chicken, fish and lean meat. Steamed veggies are my favourite. I try and avoid sugar and instead go for fruits instead. Green tea after every meal and keeping myself hydrated throughout the day with lemon water or fruit infused water.
