Who is Osama Tahir? Tell us about yourself (your background, education, lifestyle etc.)
Well I grew up abroad, studied business management, a simple guy from Nazimabad Karachi.
How did you get started as an actor? Was it an easy journey, or did you really struggle to get here?
I was always fascinated by acting. It was only when I tried it and fell in love with it. Nothing worthwhile is easily achieved. Luck also plays a major part in getting what you want, so I’ll say a bit of both.
What do you feel was your breakthrough project that established your name in the industry?
Chalay Thay Saath, a feature which came out 2 years ago.
How does it feel to finally be able to make a place for yourself in the industry?
It’s always a great feeling to be acknowledged.
What is your dream project that you would love to work on?
Oh… I hope all of my future work is something that I would love to work on.
Which co-actor and project have you enjoyed working with the most so far?
Nazar-ul-hasan, Noman Ijaz, Mohammad Ahmed – to name a few. I enjoyed working on all of my projects at one point or another.
Acting requires a lot of hard work and stamina. What are the few challenges that you feel took their toll on you?
The really sensitive ones. Where a lot of emotional strength is required, those exhaust me.
Any Particular project that you are currently working on?
Currently working on one, directed by Rubina Ashraf, starting Sana Javed and Mikael Zulfiqar.
What should the audience expect from the upcoming project?
Strange and intense.
How do you usually connect with the roles that you play?
So far, honestly, I haven’t been able to connect at a personal level, there are moments which are familiar, and otherwise it’s just a matter of placing the character in the situation and what that person would
Do you have any mentor or someone in the industry that you look up to for guidance?
I do, but they’re not from the TV industry. They’re from theater.
Who is your inspiration in the entertainment industry, both national and international?
Locally the 80s and 90s crowd are extremely inspiring when it comes to their work and ethic. Internationally I’d have to say Dwayne Johnson (The Rock)
How experimental are you with your work? Is there a tried and true formula that you find fits your style best?
I try to switch things around, a formula makes you act the same, I feel. And I think then a person is just performing and not acting.
When you are not acting, what are your hobbies and how do you spend your free time?
Friends and family – and Netflix.
Tell us something about yourself which very few people know?
I make an excellent mocktail called Saudi Champagne.
If you were not an actor, what career would you have pursued?
Probably a marketer with a side business in woodworking.
What advice do you have for individuals looking into getting into acting?
Take classes, do theater classes from Napa with one of the best. Understand the medium and practice. And never give up.
What is your take on the current state of the entertainment industry in Pakistan?
The weather is changing, it’s getting hot.
Share any funny and/or memorable incidents with the fans?
I was in a supermarket once, and this adorable child was walking out of the isle, sees me, stops in her steps, stares for a few seconds and walks backwards back into the isle. I couldn’t stop laughing at that one.

I’ve just been reading scripts unfortunately.
