Fashion in Pakistan is a never-ending phenomenon. It keeps on changing and keeps on renovating with the changing seasons and it wouldn’t be wrong to say that there is no constant trend that is being followed in Pakistan at the moment.
Karachi continues to be the leading hub of fashion. It has always been believed that every emerging fashion trend originates from here and it flows into the rest of the country.
With the excessive use of social media, the display of trending fashions on ramps and tv screens has come to a total halt. This has taken a backseat. Everyone had to wait for the trends to be printed in magazines or displayed on ramp walks, so as to make their way to the audience closet, yet now all brands have to dispatch their single design to a most sought-after blogger and voila! It’s everyone’s demand in an instant.
We’ve experienced it all. From short kurtis to maxi dresses and everything in between. The crossover of formal and casual has brought cotton shararas with short shirts to Farshi ghararas into the daily wardrobes. From printed abstracts to big floral prints, we’ve seen it all. The brands tend to approach these bloggers even before the season begins and it’s pretty much obvious what we’ll be following this season. Remember, our mothers digging Marina Khan’s fashion style in “Tanhaiyan” or Shahnaz Sheikh’s co-ords in “Ankahi”, this season’s fashion has sailed back to the 90s. Our designers, though gradually, do end up taking inspiration from the west. If we can’t follow them in design, we surely can follow their color palettes to redeem our seasonal wardrobes. Taking their monochrome silhouettes from the year 2022 and incorporating it in our desi wear has been adopted by many celebrities this season, with the brand M by Mahira making its way into the fashion world and describing our love for the solids. Light pastel solids are definitely easy
on the eyes and we couldn’t be more obliged to have the light, softer colors in our wardrobes for the season.
What started off as mom jeans, has definitely taken a new meaning in our desi wear. From culottes to bootcut trousers and airy ghararas , we are ready to rock comfortable ensembles this season and sway away the heat. The leading trend for me are definitely long frocks with farshi ghararas. Bringing back the Mughal time fashion sense in with the spring season. Be it festive season wear for occasions or casual everyday attire, a floor-length dress to go with a gharara is enough to give an antique modern fusion wear. Fluorescent, monochromes or solids are definitely back in fashion. Be it shalwar Kamiz or shirt trousers, jeans with a white tee- pure solids are the way to go about it this season or as quoted in “Devil wears Prada” by Miranda Priestly, “florals for spring? Groundbreaking!
