Have you ever felt a tinge of dryness in your eyes? That is something you should be looking into. This is because when someone says they are suffering from a little dryness of the eyes, it means the tear ducts within are not producing enough tears. Or when the tears evaporate too quickly. The fact is these tears are actually serving plenty of purposes. They are important because they keep the eyes moist, provide clear vision, and protect the eyes from infection. And these need to be kept hydrated. When the eyes are not properly lubricated, they can become irritated, red, and sensitive to light. Now let’s look into some of the common symptoms of dry eyes as these will include a feeling of dryness or grittiness in the eyes. You will feel a burning or stinging sensation in the eyes. There is also redness or irritation which does not go away as easily. Having blurred vision or sensitivity to light is also something that remains and can only increase with time. Some people even complain of having eye fatigue and you can see that even excessive tearing can lead to certain complications.

Environmental factors and hormonal changes will also lead to a huge problem if this is not addressed in the right way. But alas, it is not all without hope. You can actually opt for treatment options which can come in a whole range depending on what needs to be done. Artificial tears: Over-the-counter artificial tears can be used to lubricate the eyes and relieve dryness. These drops can be used as needed, and there are different types and brands available that can be recommended by an eye doctor. Prescription eye drops consist of some good and strong options which will increase tear production or reduce inflammation in the eye. There are also warm compresses, which means applying a warm, damp compress to the eyes can help improve oil gland function, which can improve the quality of tears. Some people can also see better results when they look at eyelid hygiene. This works with cleaning the eyelids with a gentle cleanser and can help remove debris and bacteria that can contribute to dry eyes. Doing so leads to better results in no time. There are also environmental modifications; when adjusting the environment in which you spend time can help reduce dry eye symptoms. For example, using a humidifier, avoiding smoke or wind, or taking breaks from staring at a screen for extended periods. Lastly, even lifestyle changes can bring on such a massive impact. For instance, drinking plenty of water, taking omega-3 supplements, and avoiding smoking can also help improve the quality of tears and reduce dry eye symptoms.
