“For me dressing up for Red Carpet during Fashion Weeks has become the ultimate challenge…”

Umair Mirza of UMAIRICA

Fashion Blogger

in the spotlight!

Umair is the founder behind Umairica, a fashion and lifestyle blog where he explores fashion trends, products and places. His blog is a place to chronicle and share his personal style, beauty tips, fashion obsessions and travel adventures. Here he gave an exclusive interview to Social Diary by sharing the dreams of a life, where he ables to enjoy the little things in living.

Hi Umair, could you start by telling us a bit about yourself?10407997_10155199052990328_6747846756247277247_n copy

I am a Fashion/ Lifestyle blogger and for bread and butter, a 9 to 5 job.

Can you tell us about your blog, like what inspired you to start it?

UMAIRICA is a Fashion/Lifestyle blog. My love for fashion inspired me to jump into the blogging world.

How would you describe your own personal style?

My friend says I am Paki Dapper… 😀

What do you think will be the big hits fashion wise for next season?

Men better get hands on printed graphic jackets this winter!

Where do you tend to buy your clothes, and why?

I day dream H&M opening in Karachi… I always have my shopping cart ready on their website and ask friends and family members flying from abroad to bring me my H&M!

What do you say that this blogging trend is all due to the advantages of social media technology?

Well, blogging is there because there is social media. If there was no existence of Social media, forget blogging, there wouldn’t have been Facebook or twitter etc either.

Can this trend be a negative one in our society…and if yes then how?

Negatives and positives are everywhere, blogging is no exception.

What do you spurge on? (Spend a lot of money on)?

Everything! Whatever I buy it has to be the best, what happens after it is of course a financial crisis in my life till the next paycheck comes.

Do shops and advertisers send you samples of their goods to feature?

Yes they do sometimes.

Do you have any fashion rules when putting an outfit together?

I shouldn’t look like a clown.

Where do you find the inspiration for your blog posts?

Our very hard working Fashionistas, be the designers, photographers, anyone who is doing fantastic work and making Pakistan proud globally.

Is there a person that is a fashion inspiration to you?

Maheen Khan and HSY.

You have a lot of followers to your blog how did you do this? Was there ever a time when you had say only one follower? How did you get more?

Probably the content quality is why I have many followers.

Once you’ve got the followers how do you keep them?

Nothing but just more blog posts, more Insta and Facebook posts.

What is the biggest challenge about fashion blogging?

For me dressing up for Red Carpet during Fashion Weeks has become the ultimate challenge. And the other challenge can be poor internet connectivity.

What do you love most about blogging?

It’s lively, sarcastic and happy.

How many times a week does you post?

I feel people want more updates on Instagram and Facebook now.  Once in two weeks I blog.

If a person wants to become a blogger, suggest some three tips…?

  1. Write for yourself, that’s when you will be at your writing best and you will stand out from others.
  2. Do your research before coming up with an opinion.
  3. Do not copy paste please !

Where do you see your blog in the next five years?

Now that you have asked, I am thinking about it! I don’t know is the answer 😀
