The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially cleared Rhea Chakraborty and her family in connection with the tragic death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The CBI’s closure report, filed in court, concluded that there was no evidence to support claims of abetment to suicide. This decision brings an end to the long-standing investigation.
CBI’s Findings and Closure Report
On Friday, the CBI submitted its closure report, which absolves Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and their parents of any involvement in Sushant’s death. The agency found no proof of criminal wrongdoing after thoroughly investigating the case. Sushant’s father had initially filed a complaint, accusing Rhea and others of causing his son’s death. However, the CBI’s investigation revealed no grounds for these accusations.
Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on June 14, 2020. His death was initially classified as accidental by Mumbai police. However, the case triggered intense media scrutiny and led to investigations by multiple agencies, including the CBI.
Showik Chakraborty Reacts to Verdict
Following the verdict, Showik Chakraborty shared a video on Instagram, walking alongside Rhea, and captioned it “Satyamev Jayate” (Truth alone triumphs). This message reflected the family’s relief and appreciation for the outcome.
Although Rhea and Showik were previously arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in 2020 over drug-related charges, these charges are separate from the CBI’s investigation. The case surrounding Sushant’s death is now officially closed.
Closure and Moving Forward
The CBI’s decision to clear Rhea Chakraborty and others marks the end of a highly publicized investigation. However, Sushant Singh Rajput’s death remains a topic of ongoing discussion. It has raised important conversations about mental health and the pressures faced by celebrities in the public eye.
