Popular YouTuber Faces Ongoing Gambling Promotion Investigation
YouTuber Ducky Bhai, real name Saadur Rehman, will stay in NCCIA custody until September 5. A Lahore court extended his physical remand for two more days. This is part of an ongoing investigation into his role in promoting illegal gambling apps.
Rehman was arrested at Allama Iqbal International Airport on August 17. He is accused of promoting apps like Binomo, 1xBet, Bet365, and B9 Game on his YouTube channel. Investigators claim he worked as a “country manager” for at least one of these apps and earned money through this promotion.
Court Charges and Legal Background
The case was filed on June 13 after reports suggested that some social media influencers promoted betting apps for profit. Rehman is charged under both the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 and the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
The charges include:
- PECA: Electronic Forgery, Fraud, Spamming, and Spoofing
- PPC: Offering prize in trade (294-B) and Cheating (420)
Investigation Progress and Legal Arguments
During the last hearing, the NCCIA requested more time to complete their forensic analysis of Rehman’s devices. His lawyer argued that the financial data could be retrieved without keeping him in custody. Still, the court agreed to extend the remand.
The NCCIA is expected to finish the investigation during this extended period. Rehman will be presented in court again after the remand ends.
This case may set a strong example for how influencers are held accountable for promoting illegal content in Pakistan.
