Indian authorities have intensified their investigation into Raj Kundra, the businessman married to Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted raids at several properties linked to Kundra as part of an ongoing inquiry into allegations of pornography production and money laundering.
Raid Details and Investigation Focus
The ED raided 15 locations, including Kundra’s luxurious residence in Mumbai’s Juhu area. These actions are part of a broader investigation into two key cases: pornography distribution and money laundering.
The investigation started in 2021 when the Mumbai police filed an FIR accusing Kundra of running a pornography ring. Reports claim Kundra’s company, Armsprime Media, produced adult content via mobile apps such as HotHit Movies and Hotshots. These apps allegedly allowed users to subscribe for explicit material. The investigation also links the sale of these apps to a UK-based company owned by Kundra’s brother-in-law, Pradeep Bakshi.
Financial Investigation and Bitcoin Fraud
In addition to the pornography case, the ED is now scrutinizing Kundra’s financial dealings. Authorities are investigating his role in a large Bitcoin investment scam, which reportedly defrauded investors of INR 66 billion in 2017. The scam promised high returns through Bitcoin mining but is said to have misused funds and concealed the stolen Bitcoins in hidden wallets.
As part of their investigation, the ED has provisionally attached assets worth INR 977.9 million linked to Kundra. These assets include prime properties in Mumbai and Pune, with some even registered in his wife Shilpa Shetty’s name.
The recent raids mark a significant step in the ED’s efforts to uncover evidence and financial ties related to both the pornography and Bitcoin fraud cases. Authorities are determined to track down those responsible and bring them to justice. As the investigation progresses, more details may emerge, shedding light on the full extent of these illegal activities.
