Karachi’s business leaders have launched Air Karachi, a new airline with a Rs 5 billion investment. This exciting venture is set to strengthen the city’s economy, improve travel options, and create numerous job opportunities. Hanif Gohar, a leading businessman, shared the news at the Karachi Press Club, accompanied by S M Tanveer, Chairman of the United Business Group.

Strengthening Karachi’s Economy
Air Karachi has already registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and is now awaiting its operating license. Initially, the airline will operate three leased aircraft, with plans to grow its fleet soon. Gohar emphasized that Karachi, as Pakistan’s economic powerhouse, needs its own airline to meet the rising demands for business and travel.
Moreover, the airline will play a key role in enhancing Karachi’s connectivity, benefiting both businesses and residents. Gohar believes this project will significantly support the city’s economic growth.
A Collaborative Effort for Success
The shareholders of Air Karachi include notable figures such as Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Arif Habib, and S M Tanveer. In addition, Air Vice Marshal Imran Majid Ali has been appointed CEO. The leadership team is optimistic about receiving the necessary licenses and launching operations soon.

This new airline follows the success of Air Sial, aiming to improve travel within Pakistan and boost the local aviation sector. As a result, it will also provide valuable employment opportunities to Karachi’s residents.
Air Karachi is more than just an airline—it’s a significant step toward boosting the economy and creating jobs. Karachi’s business community has shown strong leadership in shaping the city’s future. With this launch, the airline will strengthen Karachi’s position as a key economic hub in Pakistan and improve connectivity for businesses and travelers alike.
