The 8th LADIESFUND Sustainability Luncheon, a collaborative effort by LADIESFUND, UNDP, and the British Deputy High Commission, unfolded in Karachi. This event celebrated the achievements of 11 extraordinary women and explored the crucial theme of “Women & Climate Action.”
To initiate the day, a panel discussion with Naz Khan, Principal Country Officer at IFC, and Farrukh Khan, MD at PSX, delved into the vital role women play in climate action. Their insights shed light on opportunities for the private sector to actively involve women in decision-making, contributing to positive outcomes in sustainability and resource use.
Expressing pride in the partnership, UNDP Deputy Regional Representative Van Nyugen highlighted the commitment to Sustainable Development Goals and gender equality. British Deputy High Commissioner Sarah Mooney echoed this commitment, emphasizing the importance of women’s representation.
Farrukh Khan encouraged women to embrace their strengths, aligning with the luncheon’s theme of the year: “Be Yourself.” This call for authenticity resonated with the audience, emphasizing the significance of genuine leadership.
The event garnered support from sponsors like Bisconni, Flow Petroleum, PG General Supplies, and Nestle Pakistan. The Bisconni Bazaar added vibrancy, featuring stalls by women artisans.
Proceeds from the luncheon contributed to UNSDG #2: Zero Hunger, reflecting the event’s commitment to sustainability. Every aspect, including discussions with the British Deputy High Commission, aimed at promoting sustainable practices.
As the luncheon concluded, an invitation was extended for contributions and volunteers for the LADIESFUND Feed: Bhook Mitao campaign. Those interested in supporting the cause or participating in future events were encouraged to contact LADIESFUND for more information.
