ehwish Hayat, the celebrated Pakistani actress, is stepping into a new role as a producer. She recently took to Instagram to announce the launch of Pink Llama Films, her production house based in the UK.
Expressing her excitement, Hayat stated, “I’ve been working on something special for quite some time. The representation of Muslims and Pakistanis in Western media has been a topic I’ve discussed extensively, and it’s clear that talking alone isn’t enough. If we want to change these perceptions, we need to take matters into our own hands.”

Movies and TV series produced abroad often perpetuate harmful stereotypes about Muslim and Pakistani characters. Hayat emphasized that starting her production company in the UK is “the only way to shape the narrative about who we are and what we stand for.”
Her experience in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series, Ms. Marvel, where she played the role of Aisha, strengthened her belief in the importance of representation. “The experience made me realize how important representation really is,” she said.
