A New Film to Protect Lyari’s True Identity
The Mera Lyari film has been announced by the Sindh government as a direct response to the Indian movie Dhurandhar. The Indian film has drawn criticism for showing Pakistan and Karachi’s Lyari area in a negative light. As a result, the Sindh government decided to present Lyari’s real story through cinema.
Sindh Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sharjeel Inam Memon shared the announcement on social media platform X. He stated that Dhurandhar reflects propaganda and unfairly labels Lyari as a violent zone. However, he stressed that Lyari represents culture, peace, talent, and strength.
Mera Lyari Highlights Culture, Peace, and Pride
According to the minister, Mera Lyari will show the area’s positive side. It will focus on community spirit, artistic talent, and resilience. Moreover, the film aims to change public perception and restore pride in Lyari’s identity.
The movie features veteran actors Nadeem Ejaz and Samina Ahmed, along with Dananeer Mobeen. Meanwhile, Ayesha Omar has produced the film, and Abu Aleeha has written and directed it.
Why Mera Lyari Matters
Ultimately, Mera Lyari is more than entertainment. It stands as a cultural response that promotes truth, unity, and national pride.
