Medical Report Confirms Drug Use
Sindh Inspector General (IG) of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon announced on Wednesday that Natasha Danish, the driver involved in the Karsaz accident, was under the influence of crystal meth. This crucial finding comes from the latest medical report and significantly impacts the ongoing investigation.
Details of the Karsaz Accident
On August 19, Natasha Danish drove a speeding Toyota Land Cruiser on Karsaz Road in Karachi. She collided with three motorcycles and another vehicle, causing a severe accident. Tragically, sixty-year-old Imran Arif and his 22-year-old daughter, Amna Arif, died in the crash. Additionally, three other individuals were injured. Following the incident, Danish was arrested and charged with manslaughter.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
During a court hearing on August 21, the court placed Danish on a 14-day judicial remand. The victims’ counsel had requested an investigation into the drug affecting the driver. With the confirmation of methamphetamine use, IG Memon’s report has added urgency to the case.
Moreover, Karachi Additional IG Javed Odho highlighted that the medical report revealed significant findings. He pointed out that Danish’s impairment was evident and stressed the need for further consultations with medical experts.
FIR and Legal Charges
The FIR, filed by Imtiaz Arif at Bahadurabad police station, details the tragic accident. It includes charges under sections 320, 337-G, 279, and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code. These sections address rash and negligent driving, causing harm, and property damage.
