Pakistan mourns the passing of Dr Arfa Sayeda Zehra, one of the country’s most respected educationists and social reformers. Known for her eloquence and intellect, Dr Zehra tirelessly championed education reform, women’s empowerment, and the preservation of Pakistan’s cultural heritage.
A Scholar and Advocate for Ethical Education
With a Ph.D. in History from the University of Hawaiʻi, she served as Principal of Lahore College for Women and Government College for Women, Gulberg. Later, as Professor Emeritus at Forman Christian College, she inspired countless students and educators.
Public Service and Enduring Influence
Dr Zehra also advised the Prime Minister on Education and National Cohesion and led the National Commission on the Status of Women. Her bold voice for justice, equity, and ethics made her a national treasure.
Her passing marks the end of an era — yet her vision for a more educated, just, and culturally aware Pakistan will continue to enlighten future generations.
