Samiya Hijab Appears in Court
The case was heard at an Islamabad district and sessions court. Judge Amir Zia was presiding. Samiya appeared in court and gave her statement. She said the issue had been resolved and she no longer wanted to pursue the case.
“I have no objection to the accused getting bail or being acquitted,” she told the court.
The judge asked her if she forgave the suspect. She replied with a clear “yes.”
The court then granted bail of Rs20,000 to the accused.
Court Maintains Privacy
At first, the court was told Samiya would appear via video link. Judge Zia said a family member could appear instead. If not, she would need to attend in person.
After a short break, Samiya came to court. To protect her privacy, court staff and media were asked to leave the room.
This brings an end to a case that had gained major attention online.
