Sindh Board introduced new grading system, a new era in education!

by Maham Shahid

The Sindh Board of Education introduced a new grading system that aims to reform the way student performance is evaluated.

Under this new system, students will no longer be ranked based on their scores.

Which means that the traditional practice of awarding positions to top-performing students will be discontinued.

Instead, students will receive grade markings that reflect their overall performance in a more holistic manner.

The primary objective of this change in Sindh Board grading system:

It is done to reduce the pressure and competition among students, which can often lead to stress and anxiety.

By moving away from a position-based system.

The new grading policy will be effective from 2025.

Here is a quick glimpse of the notification!

Lahore-based Educationist Syed Abidi told Geo.tv that the initiative appears to be a positive step towards standardising the grades achieved by students in the 10+2 system (matriculation and intermediate).

“It will enable students to assess their performance better, allowing them to prepare for the next grade and address areas where they may be struggling.”

The board hopes to foster a more supportive educational environment where students can focus on learning rather than merely striving for a rank.

The new grading system will categorize student performance into distinct grades.

Making it easier for students to understand their achievements without the stress of competing for the top spot.

This shift is expected to encourage students to improve their skills and knowledge rather than just aiming for a high position.

Educators believe that this approach will promote a healthier academic culture.

Moreover it also allow students to pursue their interests and strengths without the fear of falling behind their peers.

Overall, the Sindh Board’s new grading system represents a significant change in educational assessment.

Hence, aiming to prioritize student well-being and personal growth over traditional competitive metrics.
