Pakistani film industry is unpredictable like all other things. Often times are movies work so well and then there is long gap in between. The commercial cinema is chanting patriotic slogans to promote their films and at the same time art cinema is under PEMRA scrutiny.
In the midst of all this an unconventional storyline ‘Teri Meri Kahaniyaan’ was released this Eid ul Adha along with Babylicious.
Teri Meri Kahaniyaan
Hira and Mani, the beloved husband-wife duo, debut in Jin Mahal by Nabeel Qureshi. Marina Khan’s Pasoori introduces the fresh on-screen couple, Sheheryar Munawar and Ramsha Khan. Additionally, Mehwish Hayat makes her silver screen debut alongside Wahaj Ali in Aik Sau Taeswaan, joined by industry icon Zahid Ahmed and celebrated model-actress Amna Ilyas in Nadeem Baig’s Aik Sau Taeswaan.
Teri Meri Kahaniyaan adopts an unusual format, resembling a collection of short stories that leave viewers with smiles. The film opens with a comedy-thriller, exploring societal aspects like fear, superstition, and their impact on beliefs amidst blatant class disparities during rampant inflation. The movie excels with clever dialogues, direction, music, and strong performances, particularly Hira Mani’s natural portrayal and Asfar Mani’s standout act.
The second story is a heartwarming romance set at a beautiful wedding, featuring luxurious wardrobes, flowers, and lively music. Written by Vasay Chaudhry, it blends humor and introspection, addressing deep-rooted issues in Desi culture, with Babar Ali’s performance shining.
Teri Meri Kahaniyaan Review: Outstanding Performances and a Captivating Script
The final story stands out as the best, featuring excellent direction and brilliant performances by Mahwish Hayat and Wahaj Ali. Their on-screen chemistry, dialogue delivery, and well-timed pauses deserve applause. Adnan Samad Khan’s subtle performance also leaves a lasting impression. The script by Khali ur Rehman Qamar is the movie’s strongest aspect, being sensitive, raw, and profoundly meaningful.
