Today’s feature is about one such individual who took it upon her to help those who can’t ask for help.

A philanthropist is someone who actively seeks to promote the welfare of others, typically through charitable donations or by volunteering their time and expertise. Their main goal is to alleviate suffering, support worthwhile causes, and contribute to the greater good. While some philanthropists may have vast financial resources at their disposal, others find creative ways to give back, using their skills, knowledge, and influence to make a difference.
Philanthropy is not limited to the rich and famous, however. Many everyday people engage in acts of philanthropy, making a positive impact on their communities. These individuals may not have the financial means to donate large sums of money, but they find creative ways to give back, such as volunteering at local charities, organizing fundraisers, or offering their professional skills pro bono.

One such individual that needs special mention in today’s feature is Usra Qureshi.
Usra Qureshi is the founder of Tarzan- Animal Rescue and Shelter. She was born and brought up in Lahore. Since childhood she had this love and care for stray animals, whenever there is an injured stray she would be the first to assist.

Animal shelter is a facility that provides temporary housing and care for stray animals that have been abandoned, neglected, or abused. These shelters work to find new homes for these animals by providing them with necessary medical care, socialization, and training.
In addition to providing basic care, Tarzan rescue shelters also focus on finding suitable forever homes for these animals. They may conduct adoption events, promote the animals through social media, and collaborate with other animal welfare organizations to increase their chances of finding loving families.
The primary goal of this organisation is to ensure the well-being and safety of the dogs in their care. This includes providing them with proper nutrition, veterinary care, and a clean and safe living environment. Shelters also work to address any behavioral or health issues that the animals may have, in order to increase their chances of being adopted.
Later in 2018 the shelter for animal rescue was officially founded. This charity based organisation is the one of the few organisations that are working for the rescue and shelter of stray animals in Punjab.
Their mechanism is simple, to provide medical assistance to injured stray animals, vaccinate and neutered them. After that they are put up for adoption which rarely happens but it does give out the message that they are worth rescuing.
She is a one man army, using her own car as an ambulance and running the entire set up on local funding. The shelter is now under construction for expansion and better facilities. The shelter is situated in the outskirts of Lahore hence providing easy assistance to nearby remote areas, these people bring in their animals for free medical checkups.
Her main Aim is to provide assistance to all the remote areas where there is inadequate facilities for animals and curb their population their painless medical procedures as opposed to killing spree by government.
Like others her rescue shelter also rely on the support of volunteers and donations to carry out their work. Volunteers help with tasks such as walking the animals, cleaning the facilities, and providing companionship. Donations of money, food, and supplies are also crucial in ensuring the shelter can provide the necessary care for the animals.
She also inspires others to get involved and give back, creating a ripple effect that can lead to lasting change.
However, being a philanthropist is not without its challenges. With so many pressing issues and causes to support, it can be overwhelming to decide where to focus one’s efforts. Additionally, ensuring that donations are used effectively and reach those who need them most requires careful research and due diligence.People like her are the true spirit of our society.
