Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary, Senegal River

Senegal, a West African nation, boasts the UNESCO World Heritage Site Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary. Over a million birds inhabit this refuge, predominantly in wetland habitats. Lakes and streams surrounding the sanctuary attract various species, including white pelicans and pink flamingos, providing them with ample opportunities for swimming and finding food.

Weltvogel Walsrode, Walsrode, Germany

The next destination on our list is the world’s largest bird sanctuary, situated in Walsrode, Germany, known as Weltvogel Walsrode Bird Sanctuary. One unique aspect of this sanctuary is the opportunity to observe birds not found elsewhere. A highlight for children is the expansive garden where they are encouraged to play, ensuring an enjoyable experience for young visitors.

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Located in Malaysia, the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is not only a haven for exceptionally rare birds but also a significant tourist attraction. The park is divided into four zones, offering bird tours, opportunities to hold or feed the birds, and leisurely walks to view them from a distance.

Bac Lieu Bird Sanctuary – Bac Lieu Town, Vietnam

If you’re heading over to the lush country of Vietnam, you need to make a pitstop at their Bac Liew Bird Sanctuary. With over 45 species of birds, the land is also home to different kind of fish, reptiles, and mammals — mimicking how life would be had this sanctuary not been a park.

Jurong Bird Park – Singapore
