Do you ever feel your makeup is not giving you the kind of look you deserve? This is because your skin is different from others and the skin on your face also is different from the one on your nose to the one on your forehead. This is why the patchwork skin technique works greatly! This process is inspired by patchwork quilts that combine different fabrics and make it look incredibly seamless. The idea here is to apply different products—skincare and makeup—to different parts of your face, rather strategically. Let’s now look into the basic steps of how it’s done:
Step1: Use Light Serum on Face
Start with washing your face with a gentle cleanser (or try double cleansing instead). Once you’ve dried your face, use a light serum all over your face and follow up with a moisturizer on dry areas. For oily areas, you can make use of a gel-based one.
Step2: Choose the Correct Foundation
Work out the foundations and concealers you have to apply. For an oily T-zone, opt for mattifying products. For drier areas, you can use more hydrating formulations. Blend the base thoroughly to avoid harsh lines.
Step3: Set the Powder on Dry Areas
If you have spots on the face that look dehydrated, dab some on the nose, under the eye, and forehead. This will make your skin pop out!
Step4: Give Dry Areas a Glow-Up
For the dry areas that look dull, it helps to give them a glow. Give it a faux glow by strategically applying highlighters and illuminating powders. Also, if you have dry skin on your cheeks, apply a cream-based blush. For a sunkissed look, dab some powder on your nose, forehead, and chin.
