A Wondrous Discovery
A new album of previously unreleased recordings by Pakistani music icon Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan will debut on September 20, 2024, 34 years after they were recorded. Named Chain of Light, the “lost album” was discovered in Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records tape archives. The label signed Khan in 1989 and released several acclaimed albums with him in the 1990s. The British Council is partially funding the album’s launch. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, from a 600-year lineage of qawwali singers, has been instrumental in introducing Sufi devotional music globally since leading his family’s musical group in 1971.Known for his powerful yet precise voice, Khan embodies the tradition of Sufi qawwali and the emotional essence of singing itself.

“Barzakh,” To Premiere on July 19
Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed’s highly anticipated web series, “Barzakh,” is set to premiere on Zee Zindagi’s YouTube channel and ZEE5 on July 19. Written and directed by Asim Abbasi, known for Zee Zindagi’s hit series “Churails” and the critically acclaimed film “Cake,” Pakistan’s 2018 Oscar entry, this new series unfolds against the stunning backdrop of the Hunza Valley. The six-episode series also features an impressive cast, including Salman Shahid, M. Fawad Khan, Eman Suleman, Khushhal Khan, Faiza Gillani, Anika Zulfikar, and Franco Giusti.
