Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza Arrested in Jhelum Under 3MPO
Renowned religious scholar and YouTuber Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza was arrested on Tuesday in Jhelum under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3MPO), according to Express News.
Taken into Custody from Jhelum Academy
Mirza was detained by officers from the City Police Station on the direct orders of the Deputy Commissioner Jhelum. He was taken from his Jhelum Academy, which was also sealed following the arrest.
Complaints by Religious Groups Trigger Arrest
The arrest followed formal complaints from religious parties, who submitted petitions against Mirza’s alleged controversial remarks. Just a day before, several clerical delegations met with the district administration, demanding action.
Controversial But Influential Figure
With over 3.1 million subscribers on YouTube, Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza is widely recognized for his bold and analytical religious lectures. However, his outspoken style has often landed him in controversy.
This isn’t his first legal run-in. Back in May 2020, Mirza was arrested under Section 153-A of the Pakistan Penal Code for a resurfaced lecture. He was released two days later by court orders.
Public Reaction and Next Steps
His arrest has sparked debate online, with many questioning the grounds under the 3MPO law. Authorities have not announced any official court date yet.
