Fawad Khan’s much-awaited Bollywood film Abir Gulaal will no longer release in India following the deadly attack in Pahalgam. The film was initially set for a May 9 release, but due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, it has now been pulled. The attack, which left over 24 dead, has heightened animosity between the two nations. India has blamed Pakistan for the assault, fueling a widespread call for a boycott of Pakistani artists in the Indian entertainment industry.
Calls for Boycott Grow
In the wake of the attack, several political groups and film bodies, including the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), have demanded the cancellation of projects involving Pakistani talent. FWICE issued a statement reinforcing its commitment to not collaborate with Pakistani artists. It declared that Abir Gulaal would not be allowed to release in India, threatening disciplinary action for any industry members involved with Pakistani performers.
Actor Reactions
Both Fawad Khan and his co-star Vaani Kapoor condemned the attack on social media, expressing their shock and offering condolences to the victims. Despite their statements, the film’s release in India remains uncertain as the call for a boycott intensifies.
