But later the government gave an official statement!

Minister of State for Power Ali Pervaiz Malik has rejected the impression that the government is going to impose any duty or tax on solar panels.

In a video message today, he said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his government are committed to their renewable energy policy.

And there is no plan under consideration to impose any duty on solar panels and their production.

Moreover he said the government will encourage people to install solar panels to meet their electricity requirements. He said any change in the policy will be taken, if the need arises, with the consultation of relevant stakeholders.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to carry forward the mission of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In order to enhance the share of renewable energy and strengthen the economy.
