Meet Hadiyya Aazer – a publicist and an advocate of body positivity. What inspired her to lose weight? Find out now in our insightful conversation with her.
Tell us what inspired you to work towards the body you have now?
I never thought of being skinny. My goal was to maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle so I didn’t experience health issues at a young age. Being overweight, I faced multiple health issues which I wanted to resolve earlier therefore that was my motivation to get into shape.
It is not easy to achieve what I have achieved but it is not impossible either. If you want to achieve something, you have to be determined. It may take some time but you will eventually get there.
Our society at large is insensitive towards plus-size women. How did you cope up with all the criticism you went through over the years?
I was always a healthy kid. During my school and college years, I was bullied and constantly body shamed. At times, even your own family doesn’t accept you for who you are and everyone wants to see you in a perfect shape. I, on the other hand, was still confident and believed in myself.
I didn’t let criticism get over my head and moved forward to achieve my life goals. My husband was always very supportive. He loved me for who I was, not the size I was. Like I mentioned, I was obese my entire life but then I thought let’s reduce weight and see how it feels.
What would you like to tell people about body positivity?
Love yourself. Love your body no matter what shape and size it is. People will bully you and shame you no matter what. Don’t let them pull you down. Believe in yourself and work on being the best version of yourself.
Being overweight not only gives you health issues but also depresses you. I would also suggest switching to a healthier lifestyle rather than putting yourself through unachievable targets of being skinny. Add some physical activity in your life and try to balance your diet and your routine. Trust me, you will feel good within yourself.
