Complaint Against Moonis Alvi Leads to Removal
The removal of Moonis Alvi as K-Electric CEO has shocked many. The Provincial Ombudsman of Sindh found harassment claims against him to be true. The complaint came from Mehreen Zehra, a former Chief Marketing Officer at KE. She said Alvi caused her mental distress during her time as a consultant in 2019.
Rs 2.5 Million Fine and Legal Action Ahead
The Ombudsman ordered Moonis Alvi to pay a fine of Rs 2.5 million within 30 days. If he fails, authorities may seize his assets and block his passport and ID card.
Alvi Responds Publicly to the Decision
Alvi responded on X (formerly Twitter). He said the ruling hurt him deeply. He believes it does not reflect what really happened. He also stated that he respects the legal system but will appeal the verdict with his lawyers.
KE Board’s Controversial Move
Despite the ruling, KE’s board reappointed Alvi as CEO on July 30, 2025. This decision has raised serious concerns about corporate responsibility.
