Gul Jan Justifies Daughter’s Death in Viral Video, Faces Anti-Terrorism Charges
In a chilling twist in the Balochistan honour killing case, Gul Jan, mother of victim Bano Bibi, has been arrested after releasing a video defending her daughter’s brutal murder. She called the killing a “punishment” aligned with Balochi tribal traditions, prompting immediate legal action.
Court Remand and Anti-Terrorism Charges
Presented before an anti-terrorism court (ATC), Gul Jan was granted two-day physical remand. Police say her video justified the double murder and attempted to influence the ongoing judicial process.
Honour Killing Framed as Tribal Justice
In the video, Gul Jan claimed her daughter’s killing was a “jirga decision”, due to an alleged relationship with a TikTok-using boy. She emphasized that the act was not unjust but rooted in tribal customs.
Bano, a mother of five, was allegedly killed by her brothers. The main accused, Jalal, remains at large as police continue the manhunt.
Investigation Continues Amid Public Outcry
With national outrage growing, police have invoked the Anti-Terrorism Act and vow strict legal proceedings. Activists are demanding justice and protection for tribal women under threat.
