Pakistan observes Youm-i-Istehsal (Exploitation Day) today. The day marks six years since India revoked Kashmir’s special autonomy.
Why is Pakistan Observing Youm-i-Istehsal ?
The day shows solidarity with Kashmiris. It protests India’s actions on August 5, 2019. In order to show solidarity with Kashmiri Muslim brothers and sisters Pakistan observe Exploitation Day aka Youm-i-Istehsal today. On this day six years ago, India’s Narendra Modi-led government revoked Article 370. This article that gave Jammu and Kashmir special status. The government also split the region into two territories. Both are now directly ruled by New Delhi.
Pakistan’s Stand on Kashmir
Pakistan condemns India’s decision. It calls it a violation of UN resolutions. Pakistan demands Kashmir’s right to self-determination.
Kashmir’s Special Status Before 2019
Article 370 granted Kashmir: Its own constitution. Autonomy over internal laws. Special rights were given for the permanent residents of the state.
India’s Actions After Revoking Article 370
Since 2019, Kashmir has faced: An Increased in the military presence. More so they have experienced Communication blackouts. Along with Restrictions on political activities.

Many human rights groups criticize India’s move. The UN and OIC have called for dialogue. Pakistan urges global intervention.

- Display solidarity with Kashmiris.
- Highlight human rights violations in Kashmir.
