The Punjab Education Minister has put an end to speculation about school shutdowns. Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed that all educational institutions will remain open. There is no plan to shift classes online.
The minister made this announcement on Friday. He addressed rumors that had been circulating on social media regarding potential energy-saving measures.

“Schools are open as per schedule. No closure and no online classes,” the minister stated. He confirmed that both public and private schools across Punjab are operating normally .
Why Were There Rumors of School Closures?
Speculation began after reports emerged about a federal government plan. Officials were considering various fuel conservation strategies. These discussions were prompted by oil supply disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East .
A cabinet committee monitoring petroleum prices had developed a national action plan. Some reports suggested this plan might include digital learning to reduce energy consumption, similar to measures taken during the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the provincial minister has now clarified the government’s stance. Punjab will not be implementing such measures in schools.
