I f we look back at the year that went by, a major thing that simply stands out is how Pakistani actors in 2022 made such a strong and global impact when it comes to taking on projects which created such hype. We were their fans already but by becoming part of some major Hollywood campaigns, these actors proved their mettle and allowed the world to see how our little country is infused with so much talent that is simply undeniable and is worthy to leave a mark on its own. 2022 had proven to be a major year of great work that crossed borders and definitely put Pakistan on the map! Humayun Saeed in The Crown
When the news started circulating that there is a possibility that Humayun Saeed will be taking on the role of Dr.Hasnat Khan in Netflix’s popular series ‘The Crown’. the public’s ecstasy wasn’t deniable. It definitely led to a huge milestone for a Pakistani actor to take on such a stellar role in a Netflix original. And it is safe to say Humayun made a fantastic debut in his International project. His portrayal showed perfection, his dialogue delivery was on point and surely he held his ground in a pool of incredible actors.
Fawad Khan and Mehwish Hayat in Ms. Marvel
Pakistan’s beloved duo took everyone by surprise when they showcased their amazing acting skills being the leading stars in the hit Disney series Ms.Marvel. Speaking about the diversified global cast for the shoot for Ms. Marvel, Hayat recalled “I actually lost count of the nationalities that were part of creating this whole magical journey for people to experience. But it was literally a moment of me where I was sitting there and thinking, wow, this is all real. This was a really fascinating experience for me.”
Nimra Bucha in Ms.Marvel
While there was major buzz and hype surrounding Fawad and Mehwish’s addition to the Ms.Marvel universe, there is yet another actor who made her presence felt. She took on her role and surprised all by her impeccable acting prowess. Nimra Bucha was already a trailblazer and truly made the country proud with her defining role and how she executed it with sheer confidence and a distinctive style.
Asif Raza Mir in Gangs of London
Good acting runs in the family! Asif Raza Mir made a stellar appearance as a drug lord in this BAFTA winning series. His portrayal was loved by all. And it was great to see him making such a strong mark, allowing viewers to know the worth of Pakistan talent.
Yumna Zaidi in Crestar and the Knight Stallion
This was definitely new! Yumna made her way into an Arab superhero series. Playing the role of Aisha, she said her character is very capable and smart. Talking about the show Yumna clarified, “This is not just a show about Arab superheroes, it’s actually a totally new universe that incorporates superheroes from a diverse set of cultures.” Definitely, a major way to get Pakistani talent noticed!
Ahad Raza Mir in Resident Evil
Ahad is one of those versatile actors who really knows how to define his acting chops through versatile roles. He also took on a major Netflix series based on the popular horror game ‘Resident Evil’. A role that was prominent, we were impressed by his serious attitude and defining dialogue delivery which allowed viewers to remain completely hooked onto the series. Too bad it was canceled after season one.
Sajal Aly in What’s Love Got To Do With It?
Jemima Khan’s directorial debut was already making the rounds for a long time but it was the first look with Sajal Aly which got our hearts racing. Sajal’s Hollywood debut who has already wowed fans with her talent in Pakistan and India, took a leading role in this fascinating project, bringing forth incredible work which left viewers amazed with her acting skills.
