Why Is This Happening to the Internet of Pakistan?
Transworld Associates, one of Pakistan’s two primary international bandwidth providers, has announced routine infrastructure maintenance . The work is happening on the company’s submarine cable system. This is done in coordination with international partners . Submarine cables are the backbone of Pakistan’s internet. They carry almost all international data traffic. When one goes down for maintenance, the entire country feels it.
Exact Dates and Timing of Internet Distruption in Pakistan!
Mark your calendars. The disruption window is specific.
- Start: Thursday, April 9, at 6:30 PM PST
- End: Monday, April 13, at 5:00 AM PST
That is nearly four full days of potential trouble . The maintenance spans 82 hours.
A Pattern of Disruptions
This is not the first time Pakistan has faced internet issues. A similar maintenance event is schedule for January 2026. It is postpon at the last minute . This time, the work is proceeding as planned. Meanwhile, the Sindh High Court has recently criticized the government over frequent internet and mobile service suspensions. The court observed that the country “could not be run by suspending internet services”.
