Punjab has launched a historic welfare program. The PML-N government introduced the Rehmat Card. It provides financial support to widows and orphans. The program is called the Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card. It was digitally inaugurated by CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
What is the Rehmat Card?
The Rehmat Card is a financial assistance initiative. It is Pakistan’s first program of its kind. The goal is to support vulnerable segments of society. Total budget will be Rs5 billion from the provincial Zakat Fund. Beneficiaries will be 50,000 widows and orphan children. The Amount allocat per person is Rs100,000. The aid is set through JazzCash wallet accounts. The government pays all service charges.
Who is Eligible for the Rehmat Card?
Eligibility is strict. The program follows Shariah principles for Zakat distribution.
Eligibility for Widows
- Must be a Muslim widow
- Widow status must be mentioned on CNIC
- Belong to a low-income household
- Must be entitled to receive Zakat under Shariah
Eligibility for Orphan Children
- Must be a Muslim orphan
- Guardian registration required
- Child’s B-Form is mandatory
Who is NOT Eligible for CM Punjab Rehmat Card?
The following people cannot apply :
- Government employees
- Pensioners
- Zakat payers (Sahib-e-Nisab individuals)
- Anyone receiving other government financial aid
How to Apply for the Rehmat Card?

How Are Beneficiaries Select for Rehmat Card?
Selection is transparent and merit-based. The process uses multiple verification systems.
- Step 1: Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER) database is used .
- Step 2: District quotas determine final selection .
- Step 3: If not in PSER, NADRA verifies the data .
CM Maryam Nawaz has ordered complete transparency. Fairness and merit must be ensure in all cases .
