A dramatic turn of events unfolded early Monday morning in Raleigh’s North Hills area when a WRAL News team called 911 after witnessing a house fire reignite. The original fire began around 9 p.m. Sunday in the garage of a home on Lynwood Lane, forcing two residents and their two dogs to flee. Sadly, one dog did not survive despite firefighters’ attempts to resuscitate it.
House Fire Rekindles Hours After Initial Blaze
After the Raleigh Fire Department cleared the scene shortly after midnight, the WRAL Breaking News Tracker returned at 2 a.m. and saw flames erupting from the garage roof. The team immediately called 911, prompting a swift response. Firefighters arrived in under 10 minutes and quickly extinguished the flames.
Quick 911 Response Prevents Total Loss
The fire had spread into the attic and soffits, but thanks to the WRAL crew’s quick action, the house was saved from being a total loss. Fire officials confirmed that rekindling is not unusual and foul play is not suspected. The initial cause remains under investigation.
