Pakistani actress Maryam Jafri has come forward with explosive claims about the controversial reality show Lazawal Ishq, which recently drew widespread backlash particularly targeting Ayesha Omar, one of the show’s key faces.
Maryam revealed that she was initially selected as a top finalist for Lazawal Ishq. The producers promised a show in Urdu, focused on promoting Pakistani culture abroad particularly in Turkey. But behind the glamor and promises, the truth was very different.
“They never told me this was a dating show,” Jafri said. “During a Zoom meeting, I clearly told them I won’t wear revealing clothes and I will not do any intimate scenes.”

Two weeks before filming, she was suddenly dropped.
“They messaged me: ‘Sorry Maryam, you’re not going with us.’ I was heartbroken I had dreams of Turkey, fame, and success. But now I see, Allah saved me from disgrace.”
Since the show aired, Maryam says she is relieved to have walked away.
“This is not our culture. Fahashi (vulgarity) and small clothes don’t represent Pakistan. I thought I’d never speak up, but I can’t stay silent after seeing this. Money and fame are illusions I can never sell my soul for that.”
While Ayesha Omar faces public criticism for her involvement, Maryam’s stance is being applauded for upholding cultural values and professional integrity.
“Alhamdulillah, I was saved from this humiliation. I stand by my decision.”
