Dolmen Mall Bomb Plot Foiled in Karachi
Karachi narrowly escaped a devastating tragedy after security agencies foiled a Dolmen Mall bomb plot, recovering nearly 2000 KG of explosive material and arresting alleged militants linked to the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
CTD Arrests BLA Members with Explosives
According to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), three suspects were taken into custody following intelligence-based operations. The accused were presented before an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), which granted CTD physical remand until January 24 for further investigation.
Massive Cache of Bomb Materials Recovered
Authorities revealed the recovery of 30 plastic drums, five cylinders, detonators, and a truck believed to be prepared for a large-scale terrorist attack in Karachi. One suspect reportedly confessed affiliation with the BLA’s Majeed Brigade, a faction notorious for suicide attacks.
Truck Intended for Targeted Attack
Investigators disclosed that the seized truck was meant to be used at a high-profile location, raising fears of mass casualties. Officials further claimed the explosives were smuggled from Afghanistan.
Karachi Saved from Major Terror Attack
The successful operation highlights the vigilance of law enforcement agencies in preventing a potential disaster. The Dolmen Mall terror plot serves as a stark reminder of ongoing security threats—and the importance of timely intelligence and action.
