In an exclusive interview with Social Diary, he delves into his aspirations for future roles, advocates for progress within the drama industry, and emphasizes the need for greater recognition of Pakistan’s cinematic landscape.
SD: Please share details on when your interest arose in the entertainment industry?
Raza: Honestly this is something very hard to track back but maybe it was short story readings during my early school years that intrigued me toward storytelling.
SD: What were the major setbacks you faced while pursuing this field?
Raza: My inconsistency was the major setback
SD: Are unfair favoritism and nepotism hindering newcomers’ progress?
Raza: Favouritism for certain people might delay a newcomer’s chance but eventually someone who doesn’t deserve will get exposed.
SD: If you could change one thing about the industry, what would it be and why?
Raza: Yes, better distribution of profits.
SD: Among your projects to date, which is the most reflective of your personality?
Raza: All of them but none of them at the same time.
SD: How do you handle criticism and trolling from social media?
Raza: So far I haven’t been a target but some criticism is always healthy
SD: Can you reflect on your character in ‘Abdullahpur Ka Devdas’ – how did you prepare yourself for the role?
Raza: Credit here goes to our director Anjum Shahzad. I alongside my character Kashi lived a journey with him throughout the shooting tenure.
SD: What kind of genres do you wish to explore in the drama industry?
Raza: Dystopian sci fi yet romantic.
SD: How do you choose the kind of projects you take on?
Raza: I wish I had the liberty to choose.
SD: Your views on our movie industry and whether you would like to join it?
Raza: Working on myself for the cinema. That’s the real dream.
SD: What other projects can your fans expect to see you in 2024?
Raza: They will have to wait till 2025.
