Holiday Announced Within ICT Revenue Limits
Islamabad declares August 13 as a local public holiday within the revenue limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), according to an official notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon. This holiday comes just a day before Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day and follows the nation’s celebrated victory in the Marka-e-Haq operation, a defining moment in the recent armed conflict with India.
However, essential services will remain operational, including departments such as CDA, MCI, ICT Police, IESCO, SNGPL, and hospitals.

Islamabad Glows With National Pride
The federal capital is already buzzing with Independence Day energy. Streets, government buildings, and monuments are illuminated with green and white lights. National flags wave from rooftops, vehicles, and roadside stalls selling celebratory merchandise like buntings, caps, and kids’ clothing.
The success in Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, under the banner of Marka-e-Haq, has added fervor to this year’s celebrations. Authorities have also banned the use of plastic horns to ensure peaceful festivities.
With Islamabad declaring August 13 a public holiday, residents can fully immerse themselves in the patriotic atmosphere and historic significance of the 78th Independence Day. The city’s transformation reflects a proud and united nation ready to celebrate its freedom and recent military triumphs.
