In a recent statement, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz assured Karachi residents that there is currently no threat of a heatwave. However, he cautioned that the city will experience hot weather over the next 10 days, with temperatures ranging between 36 to 38 degrees Celsius. He attributed the relatively bearable conditions to the continuous sea breeze and lower humidity levels.

Despite the reassuring news for Karachi, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a nationwide advisory predicting significant heatwave conditions in various regions. Over the next 25 days, the country is expected to face three major heatwaves. Particularly, Punjab and Sindh provinces are likely to endure extreme temperatures due to high atmospheric pressure.

The advisory specifies that daytime temperatures in Sindh and Punjab will remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal from May 21 to 23, escalating to 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above average between May 23 and 27. These predictions highlight the urgency for residents in these areas to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the severe heat.

Meanwhile, educational activities in Karachi have been impacted, with matriculation exams being postponed due to the prevailing weather conditions. This decision underscores the emphasis on student safety amid the high temperatures.
