NCCIA Moves Against Illegal Online Gambling
ISLAMABAD – The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has launched a strict crackdown on illegal betting apps in Pakistan. Several famous Pakistani influencers are now under investigation for promoting these platforms on social media.
Iqra Kanwal, Ducky Bhai Among Summoned Influencers
Top names like Iqra Kanwal, Mudassar Hassan, Muhammad Anas Ali, and Husnain Shah have been called to appear on September 2. Officials say these influencers promoted gambling platforms like World777, attracting young people across the country.
Unlike legal businesses, these betting apps are banned in Pakistan. Yet, they gained popularity through social media marketing. World777 even paid influencers to run secret campaigns, helping it make billions of rupees.
Ducky Bhai Arrested While Trying to Leave Pakistan
Popular YouTuber Ducky Bhai (Saad ur Rehman) is already behind bars. He was arrested at Lahore Airport while trying to travel abroad. Authorities claim he promoted several betting apps and possibly managed one. His next court hearing is on September 1.
Meanwhile, other influencers like Jannat Mirza, Rajab Butt, and Aimen Zaman are also being investigated.
Apps Banned, Tougher Laws Enforced
To stop this growing trend, the NCCIA has blocked dozens of apps including 1xBet, Aviator Game, Dafabet, and Bet365. These apps were found collecting user data without permission.
The government has now brought online crimes under the Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA). This gives authorities stronger tools to fight cyber fraud, digital scams, and fake promotions.
Strong Message to Influencers and Users
This move sends a clear warning. Promoting illegal apps is not just unethical — it’s a serious crime in Pakistan. Influencers who use their reach to promote harmful platforms will face legal action.
