The wait is almost over. The Punjab Department of Archaeology has made an official announcement. The new Sialkot Museum will open its doors on December 25. This is a major development for the city’s cultural scene.
Leadership Drives “Magnificent Punjab” Vision: Sialkot Museum
The project is a top priority for the government. The decision was confirmed by Dr. Ehsan Bhutta. He is the Secretary of Tourism, Archaeology, and Museums for Punjab. Dr. Bhutta stated the museum is a key part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Magnificent Punjab” vision. It also supports Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb’s goal. That goal is to preserve the province’s rich archaeological heritage.
Key Stakeholders Unite for Heritage
A collaborative effort made this possible. The meeting in Lahore brought together all key players. Attendees included Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Saba Asghar Ali. Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Syed Ehtisham Mazhar was also there. Representatives from the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) and archaeology officers joined them.
The business community pledged its full support. The Chamber President praised Dr. Bhutta’s efforts. He specifically mentioned the new Business Facilitation Center and Tannery Zone.
Three Unique Galleries to Explore
The museum will feature diverse exhibits. It is not just one collection. It is a multi-gallery experience showcasing Sialkot’s legacy.
Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali provided the building. This was a crucial first step for the project.
The Archaeology Gallery was overseen by Director General Zaheer Abbas Malik. This gallery will delve into the region’s ancient history.
The “Heroes of Sialkot” Gallery was also set up by the Archaeology Department. It will celebrate the city’s most famous and influential figures.
The Art and Craft (Industrial) Gallery was developed by PSIC. Saira Umar, the Managing Director, and her team led this. It will highlight Sialkot’s world-renowned craftsmanship.
Focus on Sialkot Fort’s Future
The museum is not the only heritage project. The meeting also focused on the restoration of Sialkot Fort. The Chamber of Commerce reaffirmed its commitment. They will assist in the fort’s rehabilitation. This shows a broader push to preserve local history.
Final Push for December Opening
Officials are ensuring a timely launch. Dr. Bhutta visited the museum after the meeting. He was accompanied by officials from Archaeology, PSIC, and the Sialkot administration. He inspected the ongoing work closely.
Dr. Bhutta directed all departments to speed up preparations. The deadline is firm. Everything must be ready for the December 25 inauguration.
